RWU Law offers a joint JD and master’s degree in marine affairs with the University of Rhode Island. Only 3 law schools in the U.S. offer such a joint degree.
Master of Studies in Law students can attend on either a full-time or part-time basis. Students are admitted into the program only at the beginning of the fall semester. For the class that begins in Fall 2017, the priority application deadline is June 1, 2017, although applications will be accepted after the priority deadline.
To apply to the Master of Studies in Law program, applicants must submit the following items:
- A completed application;
- An official transcript showing that the applicant has earned a Bachelor’s degree, and official transcripts of all other college, graduate and professional studies, whether or not a degree was obtained;
- A current resume;
- A personal statement describing how you expect to benefit from the MSL degree; and
- Two letters of recommendation.
Students must also have at least one of the following:
(a) A score on a graduate admission test, such as the LSAT, GRE, GMAT, or MCAT; or
(b) A graduate degree; or
(c) At least two years of relevant work experience.
International students are welcome to apply. International students must have an equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor’s degree and must also submit a TOEFL score, in addition to the requirements outlined above.
There is no application fee for the MSL program. Applicants should enter “RWULAW” into the Fee Waiver Code field in the online application. All other application materials should be mailed to:
