Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
The Tax and Business Law Society (TBLS) organizes the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) each year. Through the Program, law students are trained to provide tax assistance to low-income individuals and families at local community-based organizations in order to help them maximize tax refunds for which they are eligible, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit. Law student volunteers have been able to return thousands of dollars to VITA participants, bringing greater financial stability to low-income families and communities.
The TBLS offers an information session about the VITA program each November.
