Judicial Externships
Law students enrolled in the Judicial Externship Program are assigned to assist judges in both state and federal trial and appellate courts. Placement sites generally available include: Rhode Island Superior Court; Rhode Island Supreme Court; United States District Court; United States Bankruptcy Court; and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Student externs conduct legal research, prepare memoranda of law, observe trial and appellate proceedings, participate in discussions with the court, and perform the duties of a judicial law extern under the supervision of the assigned judge.
