‘Tis the Season

Posted by Library Blog on 12/16/2016 at 09:08 AM

No matter what holiday you celebrate this winter season (Christmas, Chanukah, Solstice, Kwanza, New Year’s, or none of the above), it can be fun to get out and see lighted holiday displays. Below is a list of places you can go to catch a bit of (free!) seasonal cheer:

  • The Lewis House, 12 Shenandoah Rd., Warwick

From 11/25  to  12/31 the Lewis Family in Warwick, RI has what the Providence Journal has called, “a  high-tech  marvel,  with  lights  constantly moving  and  changing  colors  to  Christmas  music”.

For more information, go to http://www.lewischristmas.com

  • National Chain, 55 Access Rd., Warwick

Whether you choose to view the display from I-95 or from the company’s parking lot, you can agree on one thing. National Chain has a lot of lawn ornaments. To learn more about this kooky display, see this Rhode Island Monthly blog post from 2014.

  • Crazy Christmas House, 9 Spruce Dr., Coventry

If you watch ABC's show The Great Christmas Light Fight, you may recognize this house from the second season. For details, see the display’s Facebook page.

Overlooking Interstate 95 near the Interstate 195 interchange, the illuminated mascot of the Providence pest control company renamed Big Blue Bug Solutions is a Rhode Island icon.

If you have a little extra money in your budget for holiday cheer, also check out Edaville USA or Zoolights at the Stone Zoo.

This holiday season, enjoy your break! Stay warm and stay safe!
