I am delighted to announce the hiring of another excellent lawyer to our faculty. Bela August Walker comes to Roger Williams from Fordham Law School, where she has been a Visiting Assistant Professor for the past two years. Bela has a sterling string of credentials: a cum laude graduate of Bryn Mawr College, Bela was both a Kent and a Stone Scholar at Columbia Law School, where she won the Beck Prize for excellence in Property Law. She was selected for the Columbia Law Review, where she rose to become the Essay & Review Editor. Bela has published three pieces already, and is well on her way to a fourth. Bela clerked for the Honorable Sidney Thomas, of the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit (a name that may be familiar because he was on President Obama’s short list of candidates for replacing the retiring Justice John Paul Stevens). At Roger Williams, Bela will teach Property, Family Law, and Wills/Trusts.
