“Conviction,” The Gripping Story of RWU Law Grad’s Fight for Justice, Hits the Silver Screen with Star-Studded Cast

The RWU Law community eagerly anticipates the release of Conviction, a major Hollywood film about our own Betty Anne Waters (’98), and her remarkable - and successful - effort to free her brother, wrongly convicted of homicide. Betty Anne came to Roger Williams with this singular purpose, and was in the vanguard of the efforts of the then fledgling Innocence Project to use DNA evidence for exoneration.

There is a star-studded cast led by Hilary Swank, who has won 2 Oscars for Best Actress, playing Betty Anne.  Watch the interview of Betty Anne and Hilary at the recent screening of the film at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The supporting cast is also stellar, featuring 3 Academy Award nominees: Minnie Driver, Juliette Lewis, and Melissa Leo, plus Sam Rockwell and Peter Gallagher.

See the official trailer of Conviction.
