Deflate-gate: Legal Beagle Edition

Posted by Library Blog on 01/30/2015 at 08:10 AM

The New England Patriots will be playing in the Super Bowl this weekend and the team is still embroiled in the controversial Deflate-gate. Love them or hate them, you may be interested to know that our law library collection has resources for any football fan.

If you are particularly interested in the Patriots, you might want to scrutinize the rules online at http://www.nfl.com/rulebook or you may want to re-read stories about their last Super Bowl victory in Pro Football Weekly (available with some limitations) by signing into LexisAdvance. Also, in our reserves, we have a book titled, Contracts in the Real World: Stories of Popular Contracts and Why They Matter, which discusses the background of a conflict between the Patriots and StubHub .

If you are interested in the NFL but are tired of hearing about the Patriots, we have a 2011 book for your reading pleasure titled, Advancing the Ball: Race, Reformation, and the Quest for Equal Coaching Opportunity in the NFL .

Fans of college football should not feel left out. Our collection features The Little Book of College Football Law by Attorney Cecil C. Kuhne III which introduces several historical cases about college football and provides a small collection of recipes for tailgating.  For a more serious behind-the-scenes look at college football, check out 2013’s The System: the Glory and Scandal of Big-Time College Football. Finally, if you just have to read about the branding of Johnny Football, check out Intellectual Property Law in the Sports and Entertainment Industries.
