And so it begins, the 2L year… no longer a newbie, not yet a JD… the beginning of any academic year brings with it a sense of new opportunities, a chance to prove yourself in the context of new classes, with new professors and fellow students, and to redeem yourself with familiar faces, with whom you toiled through 1L year.
There’s a buzz in the air, excitement of having relinquished that 1L title, the pride of knowing we survived it, and are wiser now, at least to the extent that we know what to expect! I’m ready for the new start-- Brand new highlighters eagerly await the opportunity to streak their fresh, vibrant colors onto the pages of crisp, new textbooks; my laptop, with a new battery and memory and software upgrades, awaits the comng abuses, the long hours, and challenge of keeping up with my occasional ADD-like need to multitask. I’m as ready as I’ll ever be! A daunting stack of textbooks sits atop the corner of the kitchen table, a reminder that the work is about the commence, and daring me to surrender before I begin. They won’t beat me!
