Keeping Current on New Books in the Law Library

Posted by Library Blog on 03/21/2014 at 11:32 AM

Among the thousands of books published annually, the Law Library continues to purchase quality works on developing issues and contemporary legal issues.  Some of these are scholarly treatises by law professors and others are “nuts and bolts” materials by practitioners who are experts in their field.  The Law Library routinely buys publications from organizations such as the American Bar Association and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.  We also collect e-books that can be accessed with one click.

The Law Library extensively collects materials that support the curriculum, institutes, and faculty scholarship as well as the unique needs of our students (see the recent blog post about study aids) and graduates (who, by the way, do have alumni borrowing privileges).

There are several easy ways to find out about new books in the Law Library’s collection.  One way is to check the topical RWU Law Guides TimeSavers series (e.g. Career Exploration, Job Searches, and Law Practice Management).  Another is to check the RWU Law Guide, New in the Law Library, showing all of our new books, e-books and Reserve Collection items. If you use an RSS feed reader such as Feedly, NewsBlur, or Reeder, you can have the New in the Law Library feeds delivered to your desktop or mobile device.

Another good way is to Follow Us On Pinterest!  Currently, there are three boards:

  • New Books
  • Career Collection
  • Technology for Lawyers

The Law Library welcomes recommendations for purchase.  Please send them to Collection Services Librarian Stephanie Edwards!
