Legal Careers: Exploring Your Options

If you are undecided about what you want to do with your law degree, go look at the Law Library’s Career Collection for inspiration!  The collection, shelved adjacent to the Library’s Print Center, is jam packed with resources about traditional law firm practice and alternatives to law practice.  You can learn about working for the federal government, following your bliss at a non-profit, or embracing your entrepreneurial spirit as a solo practitioner.  Books by the American Bar Association’s Section of International Law and the American Society of International Law offer insights into pursuing a career in international law.  The books may include worksheets for self- assessment, tips from career service professionals, personal accounts of career paths, or additional sources for career exploration.

Books in the Law Library’s Career Collection can be checked out of the Library for twenty-eight days.
