Mom - The Corn Cops Are After Us!!!!

Posted by Heather O'Connor on 10/04/2010 at 08:01 AM

This past Saturday I tried to forget the fact I am in law school and had a ton of work due on Monday and enjoy life.

After my youngest son’s football practice, my parents, my kids, and I drove up to a local corn maze. Unfortunately, right before we got there, my daughter got sick, so my mom and her went back to my parent’s house. But all the boys and I continued on to get lost within the corn.

We did good staying together for about 10 minutes, but then the boys got antsy and ran off ahead. I figured, “Hey, how much trouble could they really get into? We’re lost in a corn maze.”

About 15 minutes later, my phone started ringing. It was TJ (my 11 year old). He is all out of breath and I can hear the stalks of corn swooshing as he ran. “Mom, Mom. We’re in trouble.” “What do you mean you’re in trouble, TJ?” “Well, John had to pee and we couldn’t find our way out of here, so John just went in the corn. But the corn cops saw him and now they are chasing us.” “WHAT???” Almost immediately, I saw about three guys with yellow t-shirts that read CORN COPS on the back combing the area.

Thankfully, we were not kicked out of the corn maze because my kids were never caught. We finally found each other and went for a hayride and shot corn cobs out of a gun. It was a lot of fun and a nice break from the rigors of studying. =)
