Survey Says New Attorneys Spend a Significant Portion of their Time on Research!

According to a recent National Conference of Bar Examiners’ survey:

  • 89% of new attorneys spend a significant portion of their time conducting research
  • 91% of new attorneys are expected to conduct non-electronic research
  • 96% of new attorneys are expect to conduct cost effective electronic research
  • Research Methodology came in 5th in average significance among 86 knowledge areas for new attorneys!

To get up to speed with legal research before you enter a competitive job market, check out the Prepare for Practice Certification Program!  Throughout the semester, the library will offer a series of hands-on classes that will count towards certification.  Attendance at vendor classes (Lexis Advance, WestlawNext, and Bloomberg BNA) count.  If you successfully complete the program, you will be awarded a Certificate in Legal Research Skills for Practice (great to put on your resume).

Stop by the "Library Lounge" for a snack and to learn more about this new program designed to enhance your legal research skills at the Prepare for Practice Certification Program Open House, Tuesday 1/14, 1:00pm-3:00pm.
