One 3L Promoted to First Lieutenant, another Wins Veterans’ Law Competition

RWU Law is very proud of its students who are affiliated with the U.S. armed forces, one of the highest callings in our democracy, and two received special recognition over the summer.

Matt Sinnot chose to hold his formal promotion to First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in the law school building, in front of proud parents, faculty, staff, and classmates (who went through their own “boot camp” with him - the first year of law school!).  Matt is a founding member of one of our newest and most active student groups, the Military Law Society.

3L Brandy Disbennett won a scholarship in an essay contest sponsored by the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims Bar Association.  Brandy’s essay recounted the story of her representation of a disabled veteran.  Brandy was one of five winners (the others came from George Mason, Richmond, Utah and Pittsburg). Here is a link to the group’s website, and to the announcement of Brandy’s accomplishment. http://cavcbar.net

Congratulations Matt and Brandy!
