Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Finding Legal Forms (Part 2)

Posted by Library Blog on 04/10/2015 at 08:44 AM

As was discussed last week, law students are sometimes asked to draft documents (a letter to a client, a clause for a sales contract, or a divorce form) without prior experience. In addition to the TimeSaver on legal forms and resources previously described, the Law Library has other resources which can help you find sample forms or sample language for your documents.

When in the Law Library, one of the best sources for forms is our print collection. There are form books and treatises with forms available in the library on a great many topics. Look in the WebCatalog or stop by the Reference Desk. A keyword search in the WebCatalog that includes the word “forms” and the subject or jurisdiction desired will retrieve potential sources to explore.

In the Forms and Checklists Library in Loislaw, the option is provided to simultaneously search the forms and checklists in multiple treatises on topics that may have material of interest on a related issue, for instance drunk driving, remedies, and personal injury. Loislaw can be used both on-campus and off-campus.

If you have questions on how to access Loislaw or any Digital Resource, email lawlibraryhelp@rwu.edu or stop by the Law Library and talk to the Librarians!
