"Supreme Semester"

Posted by Library Blog on 04/02/2008 at 12:00 AM

As this is the “Supreme” semester here at the School of Law, the Legal Beagle searched the Law Library’s WebCatalog (with assistance) to find some interesting resources on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Here are three recent books of interest: Justices, Presidents, and Senators: A History of the U.S. Supreme Court Appointments from Washington to Bush II by Henry Abraham (KF8742 .A72 2008); The Supreme Court: An Essential History by Peter Hoffer et al. (KF8742 .H64 2007); and, The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court by Jeffrey Toobin (KF8748 .T66 2007).

If you have some time, watch the series The Supreme Court (four volume DVD set, Reserve, KF8742 .S77 2007).  The series, which aired on PBS in 2007, traces the history and the influence of the Court.  For details about The Supreme Court, go to http://www.pbs.org/wnet/supremecourt.

To locate more titles on the U.S. Supreme Court, search the WebCatalog by the subjects United States Supreme Court, United States Supreme Court Biography, and United States Supreme Court History.  As the Law Library’s collection contains almost 300 publications about the U.S. Supreme Court, you can limit your search to a particular year of publication and of course, to your favorite “Supreme.”
