My name is Rob Mount and I’m a 3L. I grew up in suburban New Jersey and my formative years were spent in a town called Montville, where I still return to when not doing law-related things. After high school, I matriculated to a small Pennsylvania school by the name of Susquehanna University....

Hiya Sportsfans, It has been a good long time since I've posted with good reason: I have been swamped. Between externing, classes, applying for jobs, things happening at home, and overall just getting my life together I just really haven't found the time to blog. I'm sure you haven't missed me though. Regardless, today's blog is going to be about New England in the Fall, or at least New England THIS Fall: It's be back and forth, hot and cold, sunny and rainy, and overall just cannot make up its mind. I can relate. After seven (Yes, SEVEN) long years of higher education I find myself on the...

Hiya, As per form lately, I have been a derelict in my blogging duties, but I have surfaced from my work and the beginning of 3L to add a new post in honor of my last year at law school. It's a strange feeling, knowing that at the conclusion of this year I'll have been in college for a total of 7 years. 7 years... think about that. I went to college in 2004 and I'll be graduating law school in 2011 and I have yet to have a job that pays more than $3,100 dollars a year. If at 18 you told me that I'd still be in school at (the cusp and soon to run over into) 25, I would've told you that you're...

Well, it's nearly the end of July which means it's almost August with means school is around the corner. I guess at some point I'll have to sit down and reflect upon my experiences and ponder the fact that I've essentially been in college for seven consecutive years. Now's not that time. Right now I want to talk to you about "Umbrella Etiquette". It's been raining a bit in New Jersey, though it only seems like it's raining whenever I leave to go get lunch, but this has obviously caused me to use an umbrella to protect myself against the elements.  So, I have this small blue umbrella that...

Hello there,   I regret to inform you that in New Jersey we are anticipating a 3 figure week. Nearly a hundred degrees every day. Now, I don't envy the days when I used to dig holes and pour concrete for a living, but even now I find something to complain about a bit. Suits. I love suits, believe it or not; I just like getting dressed up. No, that is not why I am striving to become a lawyer, but it's certainly an added perk. Except in the summer. When temperatures are high and I'm walking to the courthouse to use their wireless internet, I get a little warm. And by a little I mean I...

Hello there, It's been quite a while since I last blogged; apparently waaay back in April when the legal world was quickly tightening around my neck like a deadly python. Luckily for me, and you, I survived one of law school's rare feats (two exams on the same day) and have officially become a 3L credit-wise. Now, law school finals are over, so I can speak a bit kinder of them than I would have back in May or April. They suck. Let's be realistic here, I don't care if you're the smartest kid in the school who has access to the best materials, they still suck. They're stressful, destroy...

It's nearly May and you know what that means: the school year is almost over. Around this time, I generally, without thinking about it, reflect on the year I've had, but this year I honestly can't remember anything about first semester. It's almost as though it never happened, but, according to my transcripts, it did. I've been in post-secondary education for the last 6 years and, I guess, the longer I'm here the quicker it seems to go. Honestly, January feels like yesterday and everything in between is a blur, so trying to recall 1st sem is like trying to unlock an ancient thought in my...

Well, good news folks: I'm hooked up for the summer. It was touch and go there for a while; I called Medieval Times a few weeks ago to see if they were hiring knights to compete at banquet, but hard work and dedication paid off. Er, well, emailing and calling until someone would talk to me paid off. That's the truth: sometimes you need to badger your way in. Granted, the traditional way works too. You know, applications, interviews, this and that. I tried that and it didn't work out too well for me, so I decided to hustle myself and get something done. Using advanced research techniques (...

Spring Break. Now, it doesn't seem as though we should get one in grad school, but thank goodness we do. It's week 7 (or 8 depending on how you count) of second semester and it seems like everyone needs a break. Class participation is down, people are getting grumpy, the 1Ls are submitting their briefs and it just seems like time for everyone to take a deep breath and relax. I remember my 1L brief, it was an awful time in my life. I'm not a very good writer in general, but I can wax literary from time to time, but when it came to legal writing I was awful. I mean truly terrible, ...

I'm in class. Yes, that's right. I AM IN CLASS. Surprised? Maybe you should be. Shouldn't law students be taking copious notes and focusing on lectures intently? Well, to be fair, we (or I) do often. But today I am sleepy. That's right, I'm tired. And not from studying, or from going out, or anything in particular: I'm just sort of tired. Last night, I laid down on my dinosaur sheets (yes, they make queen sized dinosaur sheets), read a book purely for pleasure (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and yes, I know it's made for ten year olds) and fell asleep. And then, when I woke up at 6:59 am, I...

Everyone knows what these are, but just in case you don’t, I’ll explain: a mental health purchase is one you make that really has no necessary purpose, but only provides a boost of mental health in the liberation of not only wastefully spending money, but also spending it on something you know you don’t need. A while ago, I bought a Wii. Now, I can’t really explain why I wanted it, but I had just gotten my paycheck from lacrosse and decided that it was time for a Wii to grace my living room. Like most things in my life, this wasn’t exactly planned out. One day, I had just gotten out of my Con...
