Guest speaker: Leonard M. Lanzi
Last week the Boy Scouts of America indicated that its executive board would meet this week to debate whether or not to end a controversial national ban on gay membership. The board is expected to vote on whether to lift the ban this Wednesday, February 6th. On the same day, RWU Law’s Alliance will host guest speaker, Leonard M. Lanzi of California, a former executive director of the Los Padres Council of the Boy Scouts of America who was fired from his position after he came out in 2000. In 2001, Mr. Lanzi filed suit against the Boy Scouts of America for employment discrimination, ultimately settling his case. Mr. Lanzi will be here to talk about his experience with the Boy Scouts of America, his personal experience fighting the ban, and his lawsuit.
