Alicia Schaffner Eichinger ’09 is the Executive Director of the Salt Pond Coalition (“SPC”). SPC is a non-profit organization that operates in the south county of Rhode Island and is responsible for the protection and monitoring of the salt ponds which range from Narragansett to Westerly.  They also offer many outreach and educational opportunities to foster stewardship of the ponds.

Alicia will speak on a variety of issues SPC is involved with including policy work in the wake of the aquaculture boom in the ponds to balance users on the salt ponds, SPC’s involvement in the Beach Special Area Management Plan (SAMP) project, shellfish restoration in the spawner sanctuaries, the re-development of the Weekapaug Inn to make it more eco-friendly, and the development of an initiative with the Green Hill Pond Pollution problem.

Light refreshments will be served.
