Master the Basics of Spinal Radiology
Presented by Bara Mouradi, MD, Medical Director of The Imaging Institute

The objective of this presentation is to introduce the legal community to the appropriate use and interpretation of spinal imaging, particularly in the setting of trauma. We will review the role of various imaging modalities, including X-ray, CT, and MRI in assessing traumatic injury to the cervical and lumbar spine, and in assisting the clinician and attorney in the challenging task of differentiating acute injury from pre-existing chronic disease. Particular emphasis is placed on deciphering commonly used (and sometimes misused) spinal imaging terminology to facilitate understanding the radiologist’s report and integrating image interpretation with clinical data.
