This program has been approved by the Rhode Island MCLE Commission for one (1) RICLE credit.

Second Amendment Debate

Wednesday, September 24, 2014
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm  |  Room 283

RWU Law Professor of Law Carl T. Bogus and Sandra Froman, past President of the National Rifle Association of America, will debate.

With help from the National Rifle Association and the pro-gun lobby, the idea that the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees an unrestricted right to gun ownership has achieved a firm footing in recent decades. Yet few issues of public policy are so misunderstood, so oversimplified—and so crucially important to the health and welfare of all Americans. Historical and legal arguments reveal current gun policy to be radically out of step with deep historical and constitutional trends.

Professor Carl T. Bogus, editor of The Second Amendment in Law and History, is a nationally-recognized expert on gun control policy and the Second Amendment. He has testified before Congress, spoken about the issues on television and radio, and is the author of many gun-related articles.

Come listen to Professor Bogus defend the Second Amendment in its true meaning against the “gun rights activists” who have oversimplified and confused America.

Regististration is not required for this event. Any event inquiries can be sent to lawevents@rwu.edu

Hosted by the ACLU RWU Law Student Chapter
