The Marine Affairs Institute holds a major symposium every other year. These events draw national and international experts in their various fields to RWU Law. Students can attend these symposia for free. Past topics range from fisheries law, climate change and the legacy of the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

NAACP Law Fellow Program

Award: $5000 to offset living and travel expenses and summer position at NAACP Headquarters in Baltimore, MD working with a civil rights attorney in the areas of criminal justice, education, housing, voting rights and environmental justice

Deadline: March 20, 2009

Criteria: Candidates must have completed one year of law school, have an interest in civil rights law, and have strong academic credentials.

Summer LGBT Rights Internship

Award: Grant to fund public interest project benefiting the LGBT community and/or people living with HIV/AIDS.

Deadline: March 20, 2009

Criteria: Preference is given to student with ties to Washington State and who have demonstrated an interest and commitment to LGBT rights and/or the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS.

Award: $10,000, summer 2009 associate position.

Deadline: March 31, 2009

Criteria: Candidates must be a first year law student at an ABA approved law school.
