This is the last of 3 blog items on the graduation of the terrific class of 2012. The recessional ended up with another RWU Law tradition: the graduates filing past an applauding faculty, and on to an after-party full of hugs and high-5s. Below are some of the pics from a perfect day. Way to go, Class of 2012!

This is the first of 3 blog entries on Commencement 2012…
As the dignitaries and graduates gathered to be robed for the commencement procession, the air was filled with fellowship and a true sense of accomplishment. Besides the de rigeur portraits with the Honorary Degree recipients, I had the amazing opportunity over lunch to hear iconic Federal Judge Jack Weinstein discuss his involvement with Thurgood Marshall’s legal team on Brown v. Board of Education as a young lawyer, plus to watch another RWU Law tradition, the pinning of a boutonniere on the robes of newly tenured faculty...

...and what a year it was, highlighted by a visit from the First Circuit, a 3L victory in Student-Faculty Jeopardy, and a national prize for a 3L moot court team! The graduates and their families and friends enjoyed terrific weather, a spirited graduation ceremony (complete with goofs on the dean), and a fun after-party. Here are some pics from that memorable day:

The weather was perfect: 77 degrees and not a cloud in the sky for the 15th annual Commencement Exercises for the Roger Williams University School of Law. The ceremony was joyous as 161 graduates enjoyed the award of a Doctor of Laws degree to the Honorable O. Rogeriee Thompson, who had recently ascended to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Judge Thompson, the first African-American (and only the second woman) on the court was an excellent trial judge in Rhode Island who has had a long relationship with the School of Law, and validated her confidence in...

In addition to feting the graduates at Glen Manor, we also salute the end of the year for our 1Ls, exactly 8 months, 25 days, and 20 hours after their journey into the morass of the law began at Orientation. We toasted their hard work and the construction of a strong platform for future academic and professional success. Congratulations to the class of 2012!
Here are some pics from that fun event at Jacky’s Galaxie & Sushi Bar in Bristol, RI.

At Roger Williams Law, we celebrate the successful end of the academic year with two signature events (in addition to Commencement), none better than the fancy/schmancy reception held for the graduates at the beautiful Glen Manor House (actually it is a mansion on the water) on the eve of Commencement. Faculty, staff, and even a few alums join in this festive evening, enjoying terrific food and drink in a drop-dead beautiful setting. Check out the sampling of pictures below and then visit the RWU Law Alumni Facebook album to see dozens more.
