Student Responsibilities

Professionalism
Students should perform all public service work in a timely and professional manner.  If a student is unable to complete the work in a manner that is satisfactory to the supervisor, he or she should immediately inform the supervisor and the Director of Public Service.

Confidentiality
Students must maintain confidentiality for all work done on client cases. Their work should not be discussed with anyone other than the supervising attorney unless given express permission from the supervisor.

Conflict of Interest
Students should discuss any potential conflicts of interest (based on previous or concurrent work that the student may be engaged in at another law office) with their supervising attorney at the outset of the public service placement.

Satisfactory Performance
If a student does not complete the public service work or project to the satisfaction of the supervisor and the Director of Public Service, the hours worked will not count toward the public service requirement.
