Mary Holper

Professor Mary Holper brings her extensive experience in Immigration Law to RWU as Director of the school’s Immigration Clinic. Professor Holper was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the immigration clinic and advanced immigration clinic at Boston College School of Law, where she co-taught advanced immigration law and participated in federal court litigation on detention issues. Prior to her academic career, Professor Holper worked for several public interest groups including the Boston College Center for Human Rights and International Justice, the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, and the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition. Fluent in Spanish and French, a significant amount of her work involved the representation of indigent detained noncitizens.
As Director of the RWU Immigration Clinic, Professor Holper works closely with students representing non-citizens in removal proceedings and noncitizens seeking immigration benefits in the Clinic’s main offices in Providence. In conjunction with the Clinic, Professor Holper teaches a weekly seminar focusing on client counseling, litigation skills, and ethical issues related to the practice of immigration law.
