RWU Law Ranks Among Top Schools on Massachusetts Bar Exam

With an outstanding 93 percent pass rate among its graduates taking the Massachusetts bar examination, Roger Williams University School of Law has joined that state’s best-performing law schools – tying Boston College, and trailing only Harvard and Boston University.
Among May 2008 graduates of Rhode Island’s only law school, the results for first-time takers edged even higher, to 94 percent, according to statistics recently released by the Massachusetts Board of Bar Examiners.
“In terms of the number of students sitting, Massachusetts is our primary bar exam – not Rhode Island, as is sometimes assumed,” explained Dean David A. Logan. “That's the extraordinary news for us: we’re doing these numbers in our largest bar-taking state.”
In all, 121 May 2008 graduates of RWU Law took the bar in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and/or Connecticut, and of those 109 passed one or more exams on the first try – giving the school an overall 90 percent pass rate in the states where the vast majority of its graduates sit for bar exams.
“I could not be more proud of our graduates, or of the top-notch faculty and staff whose dedication enabled a talented group of students to perform at such a high level,” Logan said. “The message is clear: Roger Williams Law graduates can match or exceed the performance of graduates from the nation’s best-known and most-established legal institutions.”
The Roger Williams University School of Law is the only law school in Rhode Island, and offers future attorneys a rigorous, world-class legal education in a supportive, personalized environment. The excellent faculty and strong student culture, plus a commitment to public service, drive the school’s rapidly growing reputation for preparing graduates for practice in the 21st century.
