What I'm doing now...

Akin is currently a Staff Attorney at Office of the Federal Defender for the District of Pennsylvania serving in both the Trial Unit and the Capital Habeas Unit. His practice focuses on complex federal work ranging from large-scale drug trafficking cases to death penalty cases. Prior to his appointment, he was a trial attorney at the Fair Trial Initiative, where he represented defendants facing the death penalty. According to Akin "my capital trial experience provided much needed insight on how to try cases well. This continues to help me today with my work in the Capital Habeas Unit at the Federal Defenders."

What RWU Law means to me...

"Through Trial Team and Moot Court Professors Ritchie and Shelburne helped hone my litigation skills. These activities sharpened my oral and written advocacy. My ability to paint a picture with spoken and written words has been my most powerful and effective tool. Many cases have been won or resolved based on the lessons I learned from these activities. RWU Law means a great deal to me - I most really remember RWU Law as a place where the friends I made and the attention I received enabled me to work smarter, think harder, and to excel in anything I do."
