Amy Anthony (she/her/hers)

Amy AnthonyAmy T. Anthony grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, but now calls Providence, Rhode Island her home. She earned a bachelor’s degree in French from the University of Utah and completed coursework in the American Studies master’s degree program at Brown University. Before law school, Amy was a news reporter for the Associated Press in Providence, and the Cape Cod Times in Hyannis, Massachusetts. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Amy is in the Honors Program, is a Teaching Assistant for Torts I and II, and is the current 3L representative for Students for Civil Justice (SCJ), serving previously as treasurer. Outside of law school, Amy works as an editor. In her free time, Amy enjoys rowing on the Seekonk River and spending time with her family and three cats.

Ryan Becker (he/him/his)

Ryan BeckerRyan Becker is from Phoenix, Arizona. Before coming to law school, Ryan earned a B.S. and M.S. in Psychology and gained professional experience as a behavior therapist for children with Autism. Additionally, Ryan has experience as a behavior scientist, statistics consultant, and a public education research analyst. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Ryan serves as a member of the Honor Board and a staff editor for the Roger Williams Law Review. During the summer following his 1L year, Ryan served as a research assistant investigating corporate directors’ fiduciary duty to maximize wealth and the legal mechanisms through which Rhode Island can implement cognitive behavioral therapy for the benefit of persons serving a probation sentence. Outside of learning the law, Ryan’s interests include writing, cooking, Esports and gaming, napping with his cat, digging with his dog, Happy Hour with his partner, and surfing Wikipedia. Ryan plans to use his legal education to promote equity, liberty, and international human rights.

Aidan Boisvert (he/him/his)

Aiden BoisvertAidan Boisvert is a native of Woodstock, Connecticut. He graduated from Plymouth State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Management and a minor in Pre-Law. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Aidan joined the Roger Williams Law Review and Moot Court, in addition to participating in the alternative spring break program. During the summer following his 1L year, he worked extensively at the Public Defender's Office at the Danielson Superior Court in Connecticut, completing over 300 hours of pro bono work. Outside of law, he enjoys playing hockey, running, technology, history, and chess.

Kayla Brown (she/her/hers)

Kayla BrownKayla Brown is from Mystic, CT and currently lives in Groton, CT. She graduated from the University of Tampa in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in criminology, and from the University of South Florida in 2021 with a master’s degree in Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health. Prior to law school, Kayla worked in the Florida foster care system as a Case Manager and a Child Advocate Manager for the Guardian ad Litem Program. At Roger Williams School of Law, Kayla is a member of the Honors Program and serves as the vice president of the Family Law Society. During the summer following her 1L year, Kayla worked as an Assistant Clerk at the Norwich Superior Court in Connecticut. In her free time, she loves indoor cycling and playing with her rescue pup, Wendy.

Kailey Chalmers (she/her/hers)

Kailey ChalmersKailey Chalmers is from Barrington, Rhode Island. She graduated from Emerson College where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Poetry and a minor in Film Photography. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Kailey is a member of the Roger Williams Law Review and the Honors Program. Kailey is also Legal Practice Teaching Assistant for Professor Gomez. During the summer following her 1L year, she served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge Mary S. McElroy in the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Outside of law school, Kailey enjoys reading, writing poetry, birdwatching, and cooking.

Natalie DeAngelisNatalie DeAngelis is from Johnston, Rhode Island. She graduated from Providence College in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Natalie is a member of the Honors Program, a Civil Procedure Teaching Assistant for Professor Colleen P. Murphy, and an Academic Excellence Teaching Fellow. During the summer after her 1L year, Natalie served as a judicial intern at the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island. 

Delaney Dibble (she/her/hers)

Delaney DibbleDelaney Dibble is from Tucson, Arizona and currently resides in Bristol, Rhode Island. She graduated from the University of Arizona, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Studies with a minor in Psychology. After her 1L year, she worked for a sole practitioner in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Delaney currently serves as an Academic Excellence Teaching Fellow. Outside of law school, Delaney enjoys spending quality time with her fiancé and playing with her dog, Chloe.

Andrew “Andy” Dunphy (he/him/his)

Andy DunphyAndrew “Andy” Dunphy graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1986, and earned his Master’s in Public Policy Administration at Georgetown University in 2009. Andy served five years of active duty in the Coast Guard and then enjoyed a 30-plus year career as a federal criminal investigator. Andy married the love of his life, Jeri, in 1987 and together they raised six children while living in Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut, and Germany. As empty nesters, Andy and Jeri now live in Barrington, Rhode Island. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Andy is a member of the Honors Program, a fellow on the ABA police Practices Consortium, and serves on the Honor Board.

During the summer following her 1L year, she interned on the education team at the Rhode Island Center for Justice. In 2021, he graduated summa cum laude from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Joseph is a member of the Honors Program and the Tax and Business Law Society. During the summer after his 1L year, he interned with Honorable Judge Mary S. McElroy in the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Outside of law school, Joseph enjoys golfing and hiking.

Austin Gibilisco (he/him/his)

Austin GibiliscoAustin Gibilisco is from North Branford, Connecticut. Austin graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and minors in Psychological Science and Geography. Additionally, he commissioned from the University of Connecticut Army Reserve Officer Training Program (ROTC) in May 2021, and currently serves as a 1st Lieutenant within the Connecticut Army National Guard as a Human Resource Officer (42B). At Roger Williams University School of Law, Austin is a member of the Honors Program and serves a Teaching Assistant for Legal Practice I and II. He currently interns for the Law Offices of Stefanie A. Murphy, where he conducts legal research and drafts legal memorandums for criminal court cases. In his free time, Austin loves watching sports (especially his beloved 5-time National Champion, UConn Husky Basketball Team), lifting weights, going for runs by the water, reading classic fiction novels, and spending time with his loved ones.

Liz HarveyLiz Harvey is from North Attleboro, MA, and currently lives in Bristol, RI. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in Legal Studies and minors in Psychology and Sociology. Prior to law school, Liz worked at a law firm in Fall River, MA, specializing in workers compensation. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Liz is a member of the Honors Program and the Women’s Law Society. During the summer following her 1L year, Liz interned at the Providence Eviction Help Desk. Liz's areas of interest are Real Estate Law and Business Law. 

Katherine Kazarian (she/her/hers)

Katherine KazarianKatherine Kazarian lives in Rumford, RI. She graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University in 2012 with a degree in Urban Studies and Economics. Katherine was inspired to run for public office by President Barack Obama after he delivered the commencement address during her college graduation. She won her first election in November 2012, and continues to serve in the Rhode Island House of Representatives. In January 2021, Katherine was unanimously elected by her Democratic colleagues to serve as the House Majority Whip. In addition to being on the Roger Williams Law Review, Katherine is a member of the Honors Program and is a Presidential Scholar.

Samantha Larkin (she/her/hers)

 Samantha Larkin
Samantha Larkin is originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She started law school as a part-time student while working full-time as a paralegal within the Criminal Division at Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General, where she served for over three years. Presently, Samantha is studying for her master’s degree in Cybersecurity while she finishes her J.D. As a member of Students for Civil Justice Trial Team, she competed in the American Association of Justice 2023 Student Trial Advocacy Competition. Samantha also participated in Alternative Spring Break at Brooklyn Defender Services in Brooklyn, NY, and volunteered this past summer at the Eviction Help Desk in Providence, RI. This semester Samantha is completing directed research with Professor Louise E. Teitz, and externing in the chambers of Magistrate Judge Lincoln D. Almond in Federal District Court. In her free time, Samantha dances “competitively,” paints her condo various shades of pink, and often holds video conferences with her mother’s cat.

Alexandra “Lexi” Lebeau (she/her/hers)

Alexandra “Lexi” LebeauAlexandra “Lexi” Lebeau Lexi Lebeau is from Wyoming, Delaware, and currently lives in Pawtucket, RI. She moved to Rhode Island in January of 2018, and, before coming to law school, worked in various chemistry positions in environmental testing and biotechnology before coming to law school. She graduated from the University of Delaware in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Animal Biosciences. After her 1L year, she interned at the Law Office of Attorney John R. Mitchell in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Maddi Leite

 Maddi LeiteMaddi Leite is from Cumberland, Rhode Island. She graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2021 with a degree in Finance and Economics. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Maddi is a member of the Honors Program and a member of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society. During her 1L year, Maddi participated in Alternative Spring Break volunteering for the Death Penalty Information Center. The summer following her 1L year, she interned for the Workers' Compensation Court in Providence, Rhode Island. Outside of law school, Maddi enjoys hiking, biking, and spending time with animals. 

Grant Mooney (he/him/his)

Grant MooneyGrant Mooney is a New England native, having lived on the South Coast of Massachusetts his entire life. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth as a Commonwealth Honors Scholar with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Sustainability. There, he was the student director of the school's Honors Council and was published for his research on dystopian literature and extremist political thought. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Grant is a member of the Honors Program, an Academic Excellence Tutor, the Vice President of Pi Alpha Delta, and the Secretary of the Criminal Law Society. He spent his 1L summer as a Research Assistant to Professor Teitz and a Judicial Intern to Federal Magistrate Judge Patricia Sullivan.

Jillian Murray (she/her/hers)

Jillian MurrayJillian Murray is from Bristol, CT and currently lives in Bristol, RI. She graduated from Roger Williams University with a bachelor's degree in legal studies and political science. Prior to law school, she worked as a legal intern at the Attorney General's Office in Washington, D.C. in the Public Interest Division. She also worked at a law firm in Connecticut that specialized in appellate law. She is currently a Teaching Assistant for Professor Yelnosky's Torts I and II courses, and works as a paralegal in estate planning.

In 2021, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a program representative for the Rent Relief RI program. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Katherine is a member of the Honors Program and the 2L Representative for the Phi Alpha Delta Law Student Fraternity, in addition to being a member of the Roger Williams University Law Review. Following her 1L year, Katherine worked as a legal intern at Rhode Island Housing Mortgage and Finance Corporation. Outside of law school, she enjoys working out, volunteering, and spending time with loved ones.

Sara Jane Pruell (she/her/hers)

Sarah Jane PruellSara Jane Pruell is originally from New York. She graduated with honors from Salve Regina University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in International Studies and minors in French, Anthropology, and Graphic Design. Prior to law school, Sara Jane worked in digital communications for a prestigious private school. She also spent nearly a decade as a marketing executive in New York City working for large retailers including Brooks Brothers and Tarte Cosmetics. Sara Jane is a part-time student and has participated in the Pro Bono Collaborative, volunteering at the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, the Rhode Island Center for Justice, and the Eviction Help Desk. In her free time, Sarah Jane enjoys reading, knitting, and spending time with her husband Jon and sons, Oliver and Finn.

Samantha RhodesSamantha Rhodes is originally from Frederick, Colorado, and currently resides in Riverside, Rhode Island. She graduated from Assumption University in Worcester, Massachusetts in 2022, with a degree in Political Science and History. Prior to law school, Samantha was an NCAA Division II swimmer. During the summer following her 1L year, she worked for an insurance defense litigation firm in Providence, Rhode Island. At Roger Williams, University School of Law, Sam is a member of the Honors Program and participated in the Street Law Pro Bono program at the Rhode Island Training School. Outside of school, Sam likes to stay active, paddle board, and spend time with her boyfriend and family.

Elijah SantosElijah Santos is from Westport, Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in 2022, and holds dual degrees in English and Philosophy. In addition to being an editorial staff member of the Roger Williams University Law Review, Elijah is a member of the Moot Court Board and the Honors Program. During his 1L year, Elijah spent his spring break at the Federal Public Defenders Office in Fort Worth, Texas. During the summer after his 1L year, Elijah  was a summer associate at Sulloway & Hollis, P.L.L.C.

Jack SmeloffJack Smeloff is from Plymouth, MA and currently lives in Newport, RI. In 2022, he graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies. In 2020, he began working for his father’s bankruptcy and personal injury law firm in Milton, MA, and continued working there after his 1L year. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Jack is a member of the Roger Williams University Law Review and the Honors Program. Outside of school, he has a drone photography business, and enjoys watching and playing sports, boating, and going out with friends.

Erica WhaleyErica Whaley was born and raised in Rhode Island. She graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Erica is a Teaching Fellow in the Academic Excellence Department and a member of both the Law Review and the Law Review Alumni Committee. Over the summer, Erica worked at Robinson and Cole as the Rhode Island Energy/Robinson and Cole Diversity Fellow, and will return as a Summer Associate in 2024. Outside of law school, Erica stays busy raising her son and enjoying time with family. 

Lia Williams (she/her/hers)

Lia WilliamsLia Williams is from Cranston, RI. She graduated summa cum laude from Roger Williams University with a B.S. in Legal Studies and Political Science. Prior to law school, she worked for a law firm in Cranston, RI, specializing in personal injury, estate planning, and probate. At Roger Williams School of Law, Lia serves as the Clerk of Phi Alpha Delta and the 2L Representative of the Association for Public Interest Law. Lia is also a member of the Honors Program, and is a Legal Practice Teaching Assistant for Professor Tatiana Gomez. During the summer after her 1L year, Lia worked as a legal intern at the Rhode Island Supreme Court Law Clerk Department.

Course Types

We have classified RWU Law classes under the following headers. One of the following course types will be attached to each course which will allow students to narrow down their search while looking for classes.

Core Course

Students in the first and second year are required to take classes covering the following aspects of the law—contracts, torts, property, criminal law, civil procedure, and constitutional law, evidence, and professional responsibility.  Along with these aspects, the core curriculum will develop legal reasoning skills.

Elective

After finishing the core curriculum the remaining coursework toward the degree is completed through upper level elective courses.  Students can choose courses that peak their interests or courses that go along with the track they are following.

Seminar

Seminars are classes where teachers and small groups of students focus on a specific topic and the students complete a substantial research paper.

Clinics/Externships

Inhouse Clinics and Clinical Externships legal education is law school training in which students participate in client representation under the supervision of a practicing attorney or law professor.  RWU Law's Clinical Programs offer unique and effective learning opportunities and the opportunity for practical experience while still in law school.
