Robert Kent began his teaching career as a law school professor in 1950, serving on the faculties of Boston University School of Law, Cornell Law School, the University of Zambia School of Law, and Roger Williams University School of Law.  He is the co-author of Rhode Island Civil and Appellate Procedure, published in 2006 as an update to his 1969 treatise entitled Rhode Island Procedure, which was widely recognized as the leading treatise in the field.  Professor Kent is a member of the Board of Directors at Roger Williams University School of Law.
