Carolyn Rowe is from Michigan and graduated Wittenburg University.  During college she studied international business for a semester in Salzburg, Austria.  She came to law school with hopes of building a career in international business.

On why she came to RWU Law:
The faculty and administration is committed to its students.  While law school is a challenging endeavor, students still have fun here. Additionally, the location is beautiful and conveniently located near Providence, Boston, and New York City.

On preparing for law school:
Come well rested and ready to work!! Law school is very time consuming and challenging, but also very rewarding.  Come to school with realistic expectations.  Be prepared to work harder than you have ever worked before, but the rewards will outweigh the hard work.

On Career Services:
Dean Bastone is great.  He knows almost everyone in the business and is willing to go the extra mile to help students find rewarding jobs.  The career services office is a very friendly place that also makes a good study location!

On her summer job experience:
I worked in international lobbying at a global corporation after my first year of law school.  I created a position paper that will be used to lobby for reduced regulations in the EU and Russia.  It was really neat to use the skills I learned in the classroom and apply them to real-life situations.

On faculty/student interactions:
Teachers here are very professional while still being personal.  They want to see students succeed and so they challenge students to do their very best.  The faculty holds office hours and an open-door policy for students to talk to them about questions they have or even just to chat about life.

On student organizations:
I am a member of the Environmental Law Society (ELS).  They have brought in great speakers to talk about environmental jobs, opportunities in Rhode Island, and current legal challenges.  This club, combined with the Marine Affairs Institute have provided students with access to learn more about the real-world environmental issues in Rhode Island as well as other parts of the world.
