The Roger Williams University
School of Law Annual Fund is a growing and
increasingly vital source of unrestricted
support for the School of Law. The Annual
Fund supports all aspects of educating a
law student. Annual fund dollars support:
Financial aid

Importance of the Annual Fund
The Annual Fund, which grew to include over
24% of all law alums in fiscal year 2004,
is particularly important to the School
of Law, because the School of Law, largely
by virtue of its age, has a smaller endowment
than most of the schools with which it competes
for students and faculty. Because of its
smaller endowment, RWU relies on Annual
Fund dollars to pick up where endowment
income and tuition revenue leave off to
address the school’s most pressing
needs. To take one example, when the newly
established Consumer Law Clinic opens its
doors, Annual Fund dollars might be used
to help support the technology needed for
this new offering, to subscribe to a new
Journal that supports that program or to
register for a Consumer Law Moot Court competition.
Roger Williams University School of Law
relies on alumni, parents, and friends to
support and grow its Annual Fund. Alumni
participation continues to be an important
focus because many of RWU’s peer law
schools have historically maintained higher
participation rates. We are in a competitive
marketplace, and Roger Williams University
School of Law is now being equated with
and measured against ever more competitive
peer schools. We need to do as well as these
schools to maintain quality and our reputation
as a school of choice among our peers.
How can I provide my support to the Annual
Fund?
Gifts to the Annual Fund are accepted year-round,
and can be made by check, with a credit
card, or online, and can take the form of
cash, appreciated securities, tangibles,
life insurance. Many of the school’s
programs that rely on support from restricted
gifts can be supported by participation
in any of the School of Law’s fundraising
events, from the Golf Tournament to the
SBA Auction.
