This reservation system was implemented
to address concerns about fair access to the
study and audio/visual equipment rooms in
the Library.
Study Rooms:
A Study Room may be reserved in advance
by a group of two or more persons for one
three hour block of time per day. After the
initial three hour period, if the group
wishes to remain in the room and the room
has not been reserved, they may renew the
key for up to three additional hours, enter
their names in the reservation book, and
continue to use the room. They may continue
to renew the key in up to three hour
increments for as long as the room is not
reserved.
Reservations are limited to one three
hour block per day per group.
An individual student may check out a Study
Room key for use during times when the room is
not reserved for group use, but may not
reserve a room in advance.
Groups with reservations have priority over
all use of the Study Rooms by individuals or
by groups after their reserved time period.
Audio/Visual Equipment Rooms:
An Audio-Visual Room may be reserved in
advance for one three hour block of time per
day to use the audio-visual equipment. After
the initial three hour period, if the person
or group wishes to remain in the room and
the room has not been reserved, they may
renew the key for up to three additional
hours, enter the name(s) in the reservation
book, and continue to use the room. The key
may continue to be renewed in up to three
hour increments for as long as the room is
not reserved.
When not reserved for A/V use, an A/V
Room may be reserved under the same rules as
Study Rooms.
An individual student may check out an A/V
Room key for use during times when the room is
not reserved for A/V or group use, but may not
reserve a room in advance except for A/V use.
A/V use will at all times be given
preference.
General Information:
Use of all A/V and Study Rooms is limited
to students, faculty and staff of the Roger
Williams University School of Law. Alumni
may use rooms when student, faculty and
staff use permits.
The reservation book is kept at the
Circulation Desk in the Library. Reservations
may be made by telephone.
Failure to appear for a reserved time slot
within 15 minutes of the start of the time
slot will result in the cancellation of the
reservation and the room will become available
for others to use.
All groups and individuals must promptly
exit an A/V or Study Room that has been
reserved.
Fines are charged for Library materials
that are not returned on time and overdue
materials may not be renewed. Room keys are
included in this policy.
