Research on local ocean and coastal issues focuses on the two Sea Grant Extension Programs: Sustainable Fisheries and Sustainable Coastal Communities and Ecosystems.

Institute attorneys and law students provided background on the Magnuson-Stevens Act, public access issues in the state, and planning for The Coastal Society's 20th International Conference which was held in May 2006 in St. Pete Beach, Florida.
