Santoro Speaker Series Established

A special committee is being convened to chose the first speaker for the Professor Anthony J. Santoro Business Law Lecture Series, endowed by alums, faculty, students and friends.

October 17, 2011 (Updated): When Brian Ali ’06 is at work, he’s not in a courtroom – but on the trading floor in the heart of Wall Street, where he is vice president of Asian Equity at Deutsche Bank.

While most of his colleagues arrived in the Financial District via business schools and MBAs, Brian was almost unique in approaching corporate finance as an attorney – a strategy he says Professor Anthony Santoro helped him engineer. “He and I naturally gravitated to each other,” Brian explains. “He ‘got’ my business/ transactional/ tax-side approach to law.  I owe Professor Santoro a great deal of thanks for being a wonderful mentor and friend.”

In recognition of the important role that Santoro played in his life – and the lives of countless other students – Brian has established a special lecture series at Roger Williams University School of Law. The Professor Anthony J. Santoro Business Law Lecture Series Endowment will bring leading lawyers and business professionals to campus to present important issues in the area of business law.

The lecture series is a wonderful tribute to Santoro, who has been highly revered throughout his memorable career as legal educator, past president of Roger Williams University and founding dean of Roger Williams University School of Law.
