The Marine Affairs Institute holds a major symposium every other year. These events draw national and international experts in their various fields to RWU Law. Students can attend these symposia for free. Past topics range from fisheries law, climate change and the legacy of the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

Ask a Librarian

Ask a Librarian is normally available when reference service is available. During the Fall and Spring semesters, reference hours are:

Monday - Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Thursday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.  

During the fall semester, Sunday reference assistance is available 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Aug. 19th through Nov. 18th, except for:

  • September 2, Labor Day Holiday weekend
  • October 7, Columbus Day Holiday weekend

Sunday reference assistance is not available during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.

Summer semester reference hours are generally:

Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 

During the Summer semester, librarians are available even though the Reference Desk is not staffed as many hours. Ask a Librarian is available on a limited basis. Students and faculty are encouraged to email, call or visit the library when the Ask a Librarian service is not available.

To use the chat feature of Ask a Librarian:

•    Verify that Ask a Librarian is “Online.”  
•    Enter your name and RWU email address.  
•    Type your question.  

If Ask a Librarian is “Offline,” you will be given the option to contact the reference staff via e-mail at LawLibraryHelp@rwu.edu.

For complex questions, students are encouraged to meet with a reference librarian in person to learn what library services and resources are available to them.
