Roger Williams University School of Law will welcome a distinguished guest on Thursday, March 20, at 2:45 p.m. at the The Hon. Bruce M. Selya Appellate Courtroom, School of Law, Second Floor, Bristol campus, during Professor Natasha Varyani’s class. The special session will feature Eddie Ahn, Executive Director at Brightline Defense, an accomplished environmental lawyer, and graphic memoirist. His forthcoming book, Advocate: A Graphic Memoir of Family, Community, and the Fight for Environmental Justice (Penguin Random House, 2024), has already garnered critical acclaim, earning recognition as a Washington Post and American Library Association Best Graphic Novel of the Year and an Asian Pacific American Literature Award Honoree.

RWU Law has long been recognized as a leader in environmental law, preparing students to tackle some of the most pressing environmental issues of our time. This event reflects not just the law school’s commitment to coalition building and sharing resources—critical components of working together for meaningful, substantive change—but that of Roger Williams University itself.

During the class, Ahn will discuss his journey in environmental law, the intersection of law and storytelling, and how legal professionals can use innovative approaches to drive change. Students and attendees will have the opportunity to engage in discussions, ask questions, and gain insights from an attorney who has successfully blended law with creative advocacy. There will also be an opportunity to obtain a signed copy of his book.

This event is open to the public, welcoming not only RWU Law students but also members of the broader community interested in environmental law, social justice, and the power of storytelling. Attendees will leave with a sense of connection, inspiration, and a renewed commitment to advocacy.
