Dr. Estner says, "We’re excited about this seminar, the first of its kind in Rhode Island. We’re uniting medical professionals to highlight their expertise of podiatry and related radiology."

The objective of this presentation is to introduce the legal community to the appropriate use and interpretation of lower extremity imaging, particularly in the setting of accident trauma. We will review the role of various imaging modalities, including X-ray, CT, and MRI in assessing traumatic injury to the lower extremities. A main goal of the lecture is to assist the attorney in the challenging task of having comprehensive understanding of anatomy and physiology and treatment of injuries to injuries to lower extremities, particularly to the foot and ankle.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

Brian Pontarelli, DPM became board certified and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeon in 2002. Over the past 9 years, Dr. Pontarelli has brought many innovative ideas to better serve patients, using a “one-stop shopping” mentality, such has in-office circulation testing and a full line of foot care and foot wear products. Dr. Pontarelli performs all aspects of podiatric medicine and surgery and has a passion for sports medicine. Dr. Pontarelli is also an avid diabetic wound care specialist. He is a founding member and staff podiatrist of a local wound care center and has helped heal many difficult wounds utilizing cutting edge technology such as hyperbaric oxygen chambers and synthesized skin derivatives.

Roman Andrew Klufas, MD is a radiologist with Advanced Radiology/Open MRI of New England. For almost 20 years, he has been is an Instructor of Radiology-Neuroradiology at Harvard Medical School and Serves on MRI Protocol Committee at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He has been sought after for reviews and medical articles. Received George Marina Award for Contribution to Radiology Resident Education Harvard Medical School as well as published in the Journal of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology. He is invited to speak here tonight as well as in New Orleans, Hawaii, and Ukraine.
