New Year, New Adventures

Welcome (back) students, faculty, and staff! The Roger Williams University Law Library staff is excited to get to know the 1Ls students as they begin their law school journey. We are also eager to welcome back the 2L and 3L students, a little wiser with legal knowledge and ready for new challenges.
The library staff is here to help you have a successful academic year. Our collection and services are here to complement and advance the scholarship, practice skills education, and intellectual life at RWU Law. The library offers a wide array of services and resources to support your learning and research:
- The WebCatalog to locate items in our collection and online;
- Textbook Reserve Program. The library has added one or more copies of required textbooks and course materials for all first year, required upper division courses, bar-tested subjects, and selected large-enrollment elective courses to its reserve collection. Copies will circulate for 3 hours;
- Study rooms;
- Printing and copying;
- Wireless printing;
- On campus and off campus access to digital resources;
- RWU LawGuides covering a wide variety of topics;
- Guides on Study Aids for the 1L and upper-class curriculum;
- Interlibrary loan service to obtain an item not held at the RWU libraries; and
- Research assistance in-person, via Ask a Librarian, by email, or by calling 401-254-4546; as well as legal research instruction by our librarians, including Westlaw training;
The Law Library also has a variety of practical items that can be borrowed to help the RWU Law community in day-to-day activities: umbrellas for days you did not know it was going to rain; phone and computer chargers for those days you forgot yours at home; fans and blankets to make you comfortable on the days you are studying in the library, and you are warm or cold; and book stands to hold your book for reading as you take notes on your computer. Check at the circulation desk to see if we have items you may need and to make suggestions for items that we could have that would benefit the community.
We communicate information in many ways to help you stay up to date about the Law Library services and programs: visit our website, blog, Facebook page, X account, and Instagram account.
The library is a great place to research and study. It is also a great place to chill out and de-stress. If you have any questions or just need a helping hand, stop by and say hi! We can’t wait to meet or see you again!
