Civil Rights Book Display

Let the celebration of 2019’s Black History Month begin! The website African-American History Month offers an amazing wealth of resources to celebrate, commemorate, and honor this month. It is a collaboration between several US government entities and features an array of resources including audio and video to watch and listen throughout and beyond the month.

Here at the RWU Law Library, we are also committed to honoring Black History Month. This month’s book display focuses on the Civil Rights Movement. While one simple display cannot do justice to the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s, we do hope to call attention to justice and injustice in our country. Of particular interest to law students may be the 1964 Civil Rights Act which is part of the exhibit called Our Documents: 100 Milestone Documents from the National Archive.

As you peruse the selections in the display, take a moment to reflect upon the accomplishments of the movement’s pioneers. Then reflect upon the work that still needs to be done. There is room for everyone to help.
