Professor Martsyl Joseph joined the Rogers Williams School of Law faculty in 2022, after working as a criminal defense lawyer for 11 years.
Professor Joseph started her career with the Committee for Public Counsel Services, which is the public defender agency in Massachusetts. She then went into private practice, where she continued to do criminal defense work, but also practiced in the areas of juvenile justice, landlord-tenant law, and real estate law.
Professor Joseph graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Black Studies. She then attended Indiana University - Indianapolis, where she earned her Master’s in Public Affairs from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs; and the the Robert H. McKinney School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor.
