  • Access, Access to the Roger Williams University School of Law archives is restricted to School of Law and university faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Other patrons engaged in legitimate research may access the archives by prior arrangement with the Assistant Dean for Library and Information Services. Physical access to the archives is made by appointment with the Catalog Librarian. All users must…, ., Research Assistance, The Catalog Librarian provides reference and research assistance for the archives. The records and papers are generally organized by issuing entity, by subject within the entity, and in chronological order within the subject., Copying, The Catalog Librarian, or in her absence, other professional staff of the Law Library will determine if an item is suitable for photocopying or scanning. Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Photocopying and/or scanning will only be done if it will not cause damage to the item. Photocopying/scanning will be done by library staff., Collection Development & Retention, The policy is to retain three copies of each item with the exception of one copy for emails and printouts of content from the School of Law website for the archives. Pictorial and audiovisual records are also collected in addition to relevant artifacts. Items in the RWU Law Archives shall not be destroyed or removed without prior approval of the Assistant Dean for Library and Information Services., Gifts, We welcome unrestricted gifts documenting RWU Law's history.  Gifted materials are considered the exclusive property of the RWU Law archives.  Materials with closed access will not be accepted.

  • Print Services, Print Station Three networked printers are available in the Law Library Print Center. Computers in the open area and both computer classrooms can print to any of the Library's network printers. In the Library Print Center, law students also have access to Lexis printers.

  • Borrowing, With their own valid School of Law ID card, law school students may check out library materials under the following circulation policies:, Three Hour Reserve, - These materials, which include items on course reserve, hornbooks and nutshells, are checked out from the Circulation Desk., Forty-Eight Hour Reserve, - When the Library owns three or more copies of a hornbook or nutshell, copies three and above are allowed to circulate for a forty-eight hour period., Four Week Circulation, - Most single volume monographs from the classified collection are allowed to circulate for four weeks., Audiovisual Room and Study Room Keys, - Room keys circulate for three hours and may be renewed subject to the Room Reservation Policy. Law alumni borrowers should refer to the RWU Law Alumni Services page for information about their borrowing privileges and responsibilities., Renewals, Patrons may renew material via the telephone when full-time staff are available or renew material online anytime. To renew via the telephone, call the Circulation Desk at 254-4546 during the normal business day. To renew online, patrons may use the " My Library > My Account " option in the WebCatalog. They can review a list of the materials currently checked out, see the due dates and times…, Overdue Materials, Overdue notices, are sent the first business day an item is overdue. Materials not returned after two notices are billed and a billing notice is sent. Bills are issued for the estimated replacement cost of the item plus a billing fee in the amount of $25.00., Borrowing privileges will be suspended, while a bill/billing fee is outstanding. Periodic reminder notices will be sent for unpaid bills/billing fees.

  • School of Law study rooms are only available to law school students, faculty, and staff.  , A law school ID is required to check out the room key at the circulation desk., At the end of your reservation time,, please leave the room promptly, and return the key to the circulation desk.  Reservations may be made up to one week before the desired date using the online room reservation system. Reservations will not be accepted at the circulation desk., Class Accommodations & TA Use, For advanced reservations to accommodate online/in-person class conflicts, contact LawLibraryHelp@rwu.edu . The block of time can be for a, maximum of 3 hours, .  Each person may only be part of, 1 reservation per day, , individual or group. , All members of the intended group must be listed by first and last name in each reservation., * NEW* Evening Use Extensions , From 6pm until closing you may request up to 3 more hours of room time at the Circulation Desk. Evening use extensions cannot be booked in advance. Extensions are on a first come first served basis. Evening use extensions are not available during reading and final exam periods.  , Reservation Cancellations and Misuse of Rooms, Failure to appear for a reservation within 15 minutes of its scheduled start may result in the reservation’s cancellation.
