Law Review Editorial Board
Carter Hazzard is from Elkhart, Indiana and currently lives in Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated from Indiana University in 2024 with a B.A. in International Law and Institutions. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Carter is a TA for Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Constitutional Law. He also works as a Research Assistant to Professor Emily Sack. During his time in law school, Carter has participated in the alternative spring break program twice, volunteering at the Cherokee County Office of the District Attorney in Canton, Georgia and the Innocence Project in New York City.
In the summer following his first year, he worked as a legal intern with the Responsible Parent Project at Rhode Island Legal Services. Then following his second year, Carter served as a Rule 9 Student Attorney at the Rhode Island Public Defender. As a third-year, Carter will be serving as a judicial extern on the Rhode Island Supreme Court in the fall, and working alongside the Prisoners' Rights Clinic in the Spring. When not studying Carter enjoys cheering IU football on alongside his wife, running, and exploring Providence with his dog, River.
Justin Keyes is from Blackstone, Massachusetts. He graduated cum laude from Bryant University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Law and minors in Finance and Economics, and later earned his MBA in General Management, also from Bryant, in 2023. Now a 3L at Roger Williams University School of Law, Justin serves as Managing Editor of the Roger Williams University Law Review and as a Teaching Assistant for Constitutional Law. During his 2L year, he served as a Teaching Assistant for Contracts, and he will serve as a Teaching Assistant for Criminal Procedure during the spring semester. The summer following his 1L year, Justin worked as a Judicial Intern at the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Most recently, he spent the summer following his 2L year as a Summer Associate at Troutman Pepper Locke. Upon graduation, he plans to pursue a career in corporate law. Outside of law school, Justin enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and dogs, as well as playing basketball.
Gracie is from the Stonington/Westerly area. She graduated from the University of Vermont with a bachelor’s degree in early education with a licensure for teaching and a minor in psychology. After graduation, she worked as the lead legal assistant at Anderson Lamb & Associates in Burlington, Vermont. After her first year of law school, Gracie had an internship with Polito and Harrington as their Summer Law Clerk. Currently, she is a teaching assistant for Torts I and II for Professor Litman, Contracts I and II for Professor Heyman, and Legal Practice I and II for Professor McConnell. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and four cats.
Kylie Rau is a Juris Doctor candidate at Roger Williams University School of Law, with a foundation in broadcast journalism and a passion for sports law, criminal law, and corporate law. With a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Maryland, Kylie brings exceptional communication skills and media experience to her legal training. She has held diverse legal roles, including her recent internship with Mandell, Boisclair, & Mandell in Providence, Rhode Island; her previous internship at the Rhode Island Center for Justice in Providence, Rhode Island; and her previous position as a legal assistant in estates and trusts at Lerch, Early & Brewer in Bethesda, Maryland. Kylie is actively involved in her law school community as she is the Executive Articles Editor of the Law Review and a member of multiple student organizations. In her free time, she enjoys surfing, golfing, and skiing!
Katarina Capezza is from Coventry, Rhode Island. She graduated from Johnson & Wales University in 2024 where she majored in criminal justice and minored in chemistry. At Roger Williams University School of Law, she is a member of the Roger Williams Law Review, the Women’s Law Society, a student worker at the law library and a BARBRI student representative. After her 1L year, she interned at the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office in the Special Victims Unit. Following her 2L year she worked as a law clerk for Sloane and Walsh, LLP. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, pickleball and taking her dog Peanut for walks
Nicole Aprile is originally from Shelton, Connecticut. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Prior to attending law school, Nicole worked as a registered nurse specializing in cardiovascular care. As a 2L, she served as a Torts Teaching Assistant for Professor Friedlander, a Property Teaching Assistant for Professor Teixera de Sousa, and an Academic Excellence Fellow. This year, she looks forward to participating in the Corporate Counsel Externship Program at Brown University Health. Outside of law school, Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband, her family, and friends.
Grace is from Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She played basketball at Saint Anselm College and graduated from there in 2021 with a double major in Finance and Business and a minor in Spanish. Before attending law school, she worked in Boston, MA for an investment manager in their investment operations department. Along with being a member of Moot Court, she is also a Law Review member, Contracts Teachers Assistant and VITA Student-Leader. During her rising 2L summer, she worked as a legal intern at Guardian Life on their corporate litigation team. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and going to the beach.
Aine Guyer is from Bolton, Massachusetts, and graduated summa cum laude from Roger Williams University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a B.A. in Psychology. In addition to Law Review, Aine is a Torts Teaching Assistant for Professor Friedlander and a TA for Professor McConnell. Aine spent her 1L summer interning at d'Oliveira & Associates. In her spare time, Aine likes to read, hang out with friends and horseback ride.
Greta is from Lindstrom, Minnesota. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor of Arts in History and International Studies, and a Certificate in War and Society Studies. After graduating, she worked for two years as a legal assistant before moving to Rhode Island to start law school. She spent her 1L summer conducting research as a Law Fellow for Rhode Island Sea Grant, and spent her 2L summer as a Law Clerk at Eckland & Blando, LLP in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where she got hands-on experience in maritime litigation. As a 3L, Greta stays busy as President of the Maritime Law Society and Treasurer of the International Law Society, as well as an Articles Editor for the Roger Williams University Law Review, a member of the Admiralty Moot Court team, and a Research Assistant for Professor Jonathan Gutoff. In her free time, Greta enjoys reading, spending time at the beach, hiking, thrifting, and enjoying live music or theatre.
Kayla Badstubner is from Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated in 2024 from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and a minor in Global Women's Studies. During her 1L year, she participated in the Alternative Spring Break Program through the Feinstein Center for Pro Bono & Experiential Education, volunteering at Committee for Public Counsel Services in Fall River, Massachusetts. In the summer following her first year, Kayla worked as a law clerk for Brennan, Scungio & Kresge LLP in Providence, Rhode Island. During her 2L year, Kayla served as a Legal Practice Teaching Assistant for Professor Sarah McConnell. In the summer following her second year, Kayla worked as a legal intern for Marasco & Nesselbush, LLP in Providence, Rhode Island. This year, Kayla is Research & Development Editor for the Law Review and is participating in the Corporate Counsel Externship. In her free time, Kayla enjoys reading, spending time with her friends, and going to concerts.
India Awe is from South Kingstown, Rhode Island. She graduated magna cum laude from American University in 2022 with bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and Political Science. After her 1L year, she served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Mary S. McElroy in the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. During her 2L year, India served as a Contracts Teaching Assistant for Professor Susan B. Heyman, a Property Teaching Assistant for Professor Monica Teixeira de Sousa, and an Academic Excellence Teaching Fellow. This year, she is a Notes & Comments Editor for the Law Review and the Vice Chair of the Honor Board. Outside of law school, India is a bartender and has spent over 10 years working in the service industry. She spends her free time tending to her vegetable and herb gardens, reading, and spending time with her family.
Jack Burum was raised in Boise, ID. He graduated from the University of Washington in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He went on to conduct climate change research in Greece as a joint program with the University of Washington and Harvard’s Center for Hellenic Studies. At Roger Williams University School of Law, he is a member of the Roger Williams University Law Review. Jack spent his 1L summer studying comparative law in Japan and working with a law firm in Seoul, Korea. At MISSION Law, he researched cross-border investment and Korean startup entry into the U.S. market. In his free time, Jack tries to get out in nature as much as possible. He enjoys skiing, hiking, telling long-winded and slightly obscure jokes, and cooking for his friends and family as often as possible.
Matthew Zeller is from Norwalk, Connecticut. In 2024, he graduated from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and minors in Legal Studies and Psychology. At Roger Williams University School of Law, he is President of the Quahogs Softball Team and a member of the Honor Board. During his 2L year, he interned as a Law Clerk at the law firm Bittner & Picard in Cranston, R.I. Outside of law school, he likes to sail, snowboard, and spend time with family and friends.
Taylor Payne graduated from Ithaca College with a B.A. in Music (Violin) and Writing. She went on to earn a Masters of Business Administration in Entertainment and Media Management from the Ithaca College School of Business. After graduating, Taylor worked in the arts and education in development and as a fiddle player in Nashville, TN. At Roger Williams University School of Law, she was an executive board member of Phi Alpha Delta, the Intellectual Property Law Association and the Black Law Students Association. Taylor has worked as a judicial intern at the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, and a legal intern for CVS Health. Outside of law school, Taylor enjoys performing and writing music with her violin and friends.
Trent Huff is from Scituate, Rhode Island. He attended the University of Rhode Island where he graduated summa cum laude in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. In the summer following his 1L year, Trent served as a judicial intern at the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island in the chambers of the Honorable William E. Smith. In addition to Law Review, Trent is a member of the Moot Court Board and will be a teaching assistant for Property in the spring. Outside of law school, Trent enjoys traveling, watching football, and riding motorcycles.
Salvamarie Alifonso is from Providence, Rhode Island and currently resides there. She graduated from Roger Williams University where she received her Bachelor of Science in English Literature and Legal Studies. Prior to law school, Salvamarie worked as the Executive Scheduler for the Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Salvamarie is the 2L rep of the Latino Law Student Association and the Intellectual Property Law Association. During her 1L year, she participated in the Alternative Spring Break Pro Bono Program at the Center for Justice. After her 1L year, she worked as a legal intern at the RI Attorney General’s Office. Outside of law school, she enjoys spending time with her family, makeup artistry, and going to the beach.
