Samantha graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in English. During her first year in law school, she was a part-time student, while also working at a construction company as their Mentoring and Onboarding Coordinator. At the end of her first year, she left her role and transitioned to a full-time student. Last Spring, Samantha competed in the Phi Alpha Delta Mock Trial Competition in Alexandria, Virginia. Additionally, she was a Teaching Assistant for Professional Responsibility and Family Law. In addition to her membership on the Trial Team, Samantha is the President of the Employment and Labor Law Society, is a member of Moot Court, and is a member of Law Review. In her 3L year, Samantha will be externing at the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island with the Honorable Chief Judge John J. McConnell Jr. and will be a Teaching Assistant for Constitutional Law. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her horses, Ima and Rosie.
Marriah Binek is from North Kingstown, RI. She has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in applied economics. She worked as an economist for Customs and Border Protection for several years before beginning law school. Marriah is a member of Moot Court and the Women’s Law Society. She enjoys baking and reading mystery novels.
Camille Briones is originally from Manila, Philippines. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Legal Studies from Southern Utah University. Before law school, Camille worked as a paralegal for a law firm specializing in civil litigation, appeals, and real estate matters in Las Vegas, Nevada. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Camille is a member of the Honors Program and Roger Williams Law Review. After her 1L year, she worked as a legal intern at the RI Attorney General’s Office. Outside of law school, she enjoys cooking, yoga, and spending quality time with her sisters and nephew.
Alison Brochu is from Cumberland, RI. She graduated summa cum laude from Keene State College with a B.A. in Legal Studies and International Relations. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Alison is a member of the Honors Program, a Legal Practice Teaching Assistant for Professor Jenna Wims Hashway, and a Torts Teaching Assistant for Professor Michael J. Yelnosky. After her 1L year, she worked as a judicial intern at the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Outside of law school, Alison enjoys working out, knitting, and reading.
Ryan Claudino is from Seekonk Massachusetts. He graduated from UMass Amherst in 2019 with a degree in food science. As a 2L at Roger Williams University School of Law, he is a member of the Honors Program. The summer following his 1L year, he interned in the appellate unit at the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office. Outside of law school, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing basketball, and watching football.
Evan Degaitas was born and raised in Cranston, Rhode Island. In 2023, he graduated from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a minor in Political Science. At Roger Williams University School of Law, he is a member of the Law Review Editorial Staff and was part of the J.D vs. P.D basketball team. During the summer following his 1L year, he interned at Marin, Barrett, and Murphy Law Firm in East Greenwich, RI. After his 2L year, he plans on working as a Law Clerk at MG+M The Law Firm in Boston. Outside of law school, he likes playing flag football, basketball, and spending time with friends.
Sarah Egan is from Warwick, RI. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English and Political Science from the University of Rhode Island. Prior to coming to law school Sarah worked as a paralegal for Green and Spiegel LLC, an immigration law firm headquartered in Philadelphia. Sarah volunteered with the Arizona Center for Law and Policy for the Alternative Spring Break program during her 1L year. In the summer following her 1L year, she returned to Green and Spiegel as a Law Clerk. Sarah is on the Moot Court Board, a member of the Law Review editorial staff, and is the secretary of the O.W.L's club. In her spare time, she likes to snowboard, read, and hike.
Nicole Hernandez is from Miami, Florida. She graduated from Florida International University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy, and earned a certificate in Law, Ethics, and Society. In addition to being an editorial staff member of the Roger Williams University Law Review, Nicole is a Property Teaching Assistant for Professor Teixeira de Sousa, a Legal Practice Teaching Assistant, and Research Assistant for Professor Joseph. Additionally, Nicole is an Academic Excellence Teaching Fellow. In her free time, Nicole loves to explore Rhode Island with her loved ones.
Desiree James is from Swedesboro, New Jersey and currently resides in Fall River, Massachusetts. She graduated from Rowan University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Prior to law school she worked in a pharmacy and obtained a paralegal certification from Villanova University. She currently sits as the president of the Intellectual Property Law Association. During her 1L year, Desiree spent her spring break with the Medical Legal Partnership in Boston. Outside of law school she enjoys going on hikes and spending quality time with her cat, Leah.
Olivia Johnson is from Exeter, RI. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Rhode Island in 2023 with bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Sociology. Prior to law school, Olivia worked in communications at RIHousing. At Roger Williams University School of Law, she is a member of the Honors Program and the First-Generation Mentor Program. Olivia spent her 1L summer as a Research Assistant for Professor Ellen Farwell. In her spare time, she likes to read, crochet, and spend time with her dog, Apollo.
Alexander Lavoie is from Coventry, Rhode Island. In 2023, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History, and a minor in English. During the 2024 Alternative Spring Break program, he volunteered with the Center for Indigenous Peoples’ Rights. He currently works part-time as a legal clerk for McKenny, Clarkin & Estey, LLP. In his free time, Alex enjoys painting miniatures, reading historical novels, and spending time with his loved ones.
Rachel Lesinski is from Exeter, Rhode Island. She graduated from Saint Michael’s College in
2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Political Science. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Rachel is a member of the Roger Williams Law Review, the Women’s Law Society, and the Family Law Society. During the summer following her 1L year, Rachel interned at Savage Law Partners, LLP, in Providence, Rhode Island. Outside of law school, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones.
Anna MacGillivray is from Portsmouth, RI and currently lives in Newport, RI. She graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in English and Art History. Prior to law school, she worked for a law firm in Providence, RI specializing in veterans’ law, bequest management, and long-term disability insurance. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Anna is a member of the Roger Williams University Law Review and the Honors Program. She is also a teaching assistant at the Law School’s Writing Center. In her free time, Anna enjoys being on the water and spending time with friends and family.
Drew Mondi is from Hershey, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, and minors in French and Environmental Inquiry. Prior to law school, Drew taught English in Saint Raphaël, France. At Roger Williams University School of Law, he is a member of the Honors Program and serves as a 2L Representative with the Student Bar Association. During his first year, Drew participated in the Street Law Pro Bono program. After his first year of law school, he was a summer associate at Pierce Atwood, LLP.
Nikki Nappi is from Bristol, Rhode Island. She graduated from Providence College in 2023 where she received her bachelor’s degree in Business Economics and was a cheerleader. After her 1L year, she worked for a personal injury firm in Cranston, Rhode Island. In her free time, Nikki enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and dog, Benny.
Christopher Ray is from Fairfield, Connecticut and currently resides in Bristol, Rhode Island. He graduated from Hobart and Williams Smith Colleges, with a major in Political Science and a minor in Economics. After his 1L year, he interned for a law firm in Connecticut doing work in commercial real estate. Outside of law school, Christopher likes spending time with family and friends.
Alexis Reed is from Malta, New York and currently resides in Somerset, Massachusetts. She graduated from Siena College in 2018, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a Business Immigration Paralegal for six years for firms located in both Boston, Massachusetts and Denver, Colorado. During her 1L year, she participated in the Alternative Spring Break program, completing 50 hours of pro bono work. Outside of law school, she enjoys hiking with her husband and traveling to new places.
Casey Rivera is from East Lyme, Connecticut. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2019. After his 1L year, he interned at the Rhode Island Department of Transportation in the Office of Legal Counsel. At Roger Williams University School of Law, Casey is a member of the Roger Williams University Law Review and the Honors Program. Outside of law school, Casey enjoys reading, watching movies, and gaming. He lives in Barrington, RI with his partner and their two elderly cats.
Isabelle Ryan is from Mystic, Connecticut, where she currently resides. She graduated from the College of Charleston, where she received her bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Communications. Prior to law school and after continuing after her 1L year, she worked as an assistant paralegal at a law firm in Westerly, Rhode Island. She is currently a Teaching Assistant for Professor Sack’s Criminal Law class.
Maximilian Schapfel is from Long Island, New York and currently resides in Bristol, Rhode Island. He graduated from the State University of New York Maritime College with a major in Marine Business and Commerce and Pre-Law minor. Shortly after graduation, Maximilian commenced his career as a merchant mariner for Crowley, where he primarily served as Third Mate onboard commercial tankers that transited the West Coast and Alaska. After his 1L year, he served as an intern for the Rhode Island Worker’s Compensation Court. Outside of law school, Max enjoys spending time with his wife, his family, and friends.
Meghan Sheldon is originally from New Jersey but currently lives in Bristol, RI. She graduated with a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Tech. Prior to law school, Meghan was a second-grade teacher and a Teach for America corps member in Greensboro, NC. At Roger Williams School of Law, she is a member of the Honors Program, an Academic Success Fellow, a Criminal Law TA, a 2L Honor Board Representative, and a Research Assistant with Professor Emily Sack. She is also on the Law Review Alumni and Outreach Committee. After her first year of law school, Meghan was a judicial intern at the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. In her free time, Meghan loves to be active, try new restaurants, and travel.
Declan Smith is from Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor's in History and Philosophy, as well as a Master's in History. After completing his 1L year, he interned for Judge William E. Smith in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island. At Roger Williams University School of Law, he is a TA for Torts with Professor Michael Yelnosky and a 2L Representative for the American Constitution Society.
Alexandria Snyders Dykeman is from Lexington, Massachusetts. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a bachelor's degree in History and Political Science. Prior to law school, she served as an Americorps Legal Advocate at the Massachusetts Fair Housing Center. At Roger Williams School of Law, Alexandria is a member of the Honors program and participated in the alternative spring break program, the street law project, and the eviction help desk. During the summer following her 1L year, Alexandria interned at South Coastal Counties Legal Services.
Caroline Stanton Chlaupek hails from Dowagiac, Michigan. She is a career mariner with twelve years of service as a Naval Officer and two years of seasonal sailing as a merchant mariner. During her Naval career, she served as Navigator of USS NEW YORK (LPD 21), Navigator of USS ESSEX (LHD 2), and Operations Officer of USS KIDD (DDG 100). She is a USCG licensed Captain of 1,600 ton vessels as well as a licensed Second Mate of Unlimited Tonnage. She also holds a Navigation Expert Additional Qualification Designation (AQD) from the United States Navy. She earned a master’s degree in Communications from Liberty University, where she graduated with high distinction. In addition to membership on the Law Review editorial staff, Caroline is a member of the Moot Court Board, a Legal Writing Teaching Assistant, and a member of the Honors Program. During her 1L summer, she gained valuable experience in maritime law while interning for Fulweiler, llc in Newport, RI. She and her husband, Todd, live in Charlestown, RI, where they enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
Jacob Young is from Lincoln, Rhode Island. He graduated summa cum laude from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Law and minors in Political Science and Economics. During his 1L year, he participated in the Alternative Spring Break Program through the Feinstein Center for Pro Bono & Experiential Education, volunteering at the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office in Providence. In the summer following his first year, Jacob worked as a legal intern for Attorney Gerard M. DeCelles in Providence, Rhode Island. In addition to being a member of Law Review, Jacob is a member of the Moot Court Board and will be a TA for Civil Procedure this year. Upon graduation, Jacob aspires to pursue a career as a litigator.
